E3 is delighted to announce that Rounak Kharait joins the E3 team as Executive Director of our Solar Practice. Rounak brings over 15 years of experience in the solar industry, with a strong background as an EPC, developer, and owner’s and lender’s engineer. He has worked across North America and internationally, assessing over 40 GW of solar and storage projects throughout his career.
Rounak has held several leadership positions at NextEra Analytics, DNV Energy USA, and Ørsted. While with DNV, he helped finance over 10 GW of solar and solar-plus-storage projects. He led the industry for solar energy assessment validation, introducing new loss factors like Hourly Modeling Correction, which is now widely accepted as standard. Later, as the Chief Solar Specialist at Orsted, he supported the Orsted Onshore team for solar and solar plus storage development in the US. He was a part of the team that supported the tax equity transactions of over 2 GW of solar projects for Orsted.
Rounak was the 2022 Finalist for the “40 under 40 Cleanie Awards,” nominated for the 2020-2021 International Solar Energy Society Young Board of Directors, and is an active voice in the industry. He has presented and co-chaired sessions at leading conferences such as IEEE PVSC and NREL, served on panels at RE+, and co-chaired the American Clean Power Resource & Technology conference. Rounak is passionate about data, analytics, and building efficient teams. To that end, he recently published a book on “Building High-Performance Resilient Teams.”
