March of 2019 marks E3’s 20th anniversary! Founded in 1999 in Englewood, Colorado, E3’s founders wanted to create an Independent Engineering firm where excellence in client service could co-exist with a positive workplace culture. The approach was extremely successful, as E3 continued to expand its staff, hiring a team of highly-specialized professionals, and expanding to offices in the New York metro area and Houston. Moreover, in an era where staff turnover is the norm, the average tenure of E3’s subject matter expert staff is well over ten years.
Since its founding, E3 has expanded its service offerings in the oil, gas, and chemicals and infrastructure markets, while continuing to grow as a leader in renewable energy project financing. E3 has also expanded its footprint in South America, serving as the Independent Engineer for several major transmission projects in the Republic of Chile.
In 2014, E3 was acquired by NAES Corporation, a broad-based provider of services to the energy industry. The acquisition by NAES allowed E3 to have access to additional economies of scale and synergies of a much larger company, while retaining its ability to operate as a separate and standalone business. E3 continues to be managed by a team of long-term employees, including Paul Plath, President and one of the original founders, and Ginger Elbaum, Managing Director.
Plath noted, “While the energy industry has undergone dramatic changes over the past two decades, E3’s commitment to providing our clients with superior service has remained steadfast. With a team of smart and interesting people, coupled with our relationship with NAES, we have been able to evolve by learning new technologies, skills, and approaches to our work, allowing us to enter our third decade in an ever-stronger position. We have been fortunate to have great clients and will continue to focus on adapting to and serving our clients’ ever-changing needs.”
