E3 Consulting Serves as IE for North America’s first bagasse facility

E3 congratulates Delta Biofuel for its $100 million final investment decision to construct and start its Louisiana-based renewable fuel facility, the first in North America to use bagasse, a byproduct of sugarcane production, to manufacture biomass fuel pellets on a commercial scale.

E3 was pleased to serve as the Independent Engineer on the Project, which will help produce cleaner energy and provide an estimated 126 new jobs at the facility, with an additional 149 indirect jobs because of the Project. When complete, the facility can produce 340,000 metric tons of biomass fuel pellets annually.

Delta Biofuels received a competitive incentive package from the State of Louisiana, including a comprehensive workforce development solution of LED FastStart and a $1 million performance-based infrastructure improvements grant. Société Générale served as the lead arranger to the debt financing for the facility, with additional funding provided by IFM Investors.
