Representative Projects

Alberta Carbon Trunk Line

Wolf Midstream ACTL CO2 Pipeline – Alberta, Canada

E3 provided due diligence, an Independent Engineers report and Construction Monitoring for financing the development and construction of the Alberta Carbon Trunk Line (“ACTL”) project. This 149-mile pipeline collects 4,400 tonnes per day of anthropogenic carbon dioxide (“CO2“) from multiple industrial sources in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, compresses the CO2 to a dense phase and transports the CO2 to southern Alberta oil reservoirs for enhanced oil recovery (“EOR”) and ultimate sequestration of CO2.  Wolf constructed, owns, and operates the ACTL CO2 capture, compression, and pipeline transportation assets.  Wolf is funded in part by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (“CPPIB”) and will receive significant development reimbursements approved under the Province of Alberta’s Carbon Capture and Storage Funding Act (2009). Additional public funding is provided by the Government of Canada under the Federal EcoETI Program and the Federal Clean Energy Fund Program. 


Petra Nova Carbon Capture Project, Texas

E3 served as the Independent Engineer for the Petra Nova Carbon Capture Project. In that role, E3 provided a lender with a due diligence review of a carbon capture system CO2 compressor, 80-mile CO2 pipeline, and complete redevelopment of wells and surface facilities in the West Ranch Field to support new multiple reservoir CO2 injection and production patterns to implement CO2 enhanced oil recovery (EOR) operations. CO2 will be permanently sequestered as individual reservoirs are abandoned following commercial oil recovery operations.

Oxy Elk

Oxy Elk Hills NGL Recovery Facility, California

E3 provided pre-acquisition review of gas processing facility. E3 performed due diligence on the acquisition of a 300 MMSCFD gas processing facility, including amine treating, oxygen removal, membrane separation, NGL recovery (including ethane) and fractionation for Development Capital Resources (DCR). In addition, a 500 MW combined cycle cogeneration plant was part of the acquisition, which is discussed separately. E3’s scope of review for the gas processing facility included reviews of the process design, NGL recovery performance, current mode of operation, CO2 management, integration of steam with the cogeneration plant, O&M history, O&M costs, condition of the facility, and more.

Williams Marcellus and Utica Midstream Assets, Pennsylvania

E3 provided due diligence for an investment of $1.45 Billion by CPPIB into the OVM and UEO oil & gas gathering, processing and fractionation assets in the Utica and Marcellus regions. The overall asset value was over $4 billion.


Wolf Infrastructure, Alberta

E3 provided due diligence for the acquisition of the Access Pipeline, which consists of a dual pipeline, pumping, and measurement facilities used for transportation of diluent and bitumen blend between heavy oil extraction facilities in Northern Alberta and terminals in Edmonton, Alberta. Also included in the scope were the diluent-bitumen blending facilities in Northern Alberta.
