Project:
Multi-Asset Gas Storage Acquisition Review
Locations: Alabama, California, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, and Texas

Overview:

A major energy company was interested in acquiring gas storage assets in the United States. E3 Consulting was engaged to assist in various aspects of this process.

E3 Services Provided:

  • Reviewed a variety of reservoir, salt cavern, and bedded salt storage assets
  • In performing a midstream gas review, made a detailed assessment of the project’s technology, which included a performance assessment of a reservoir or salt formation
  • Assessed the relative level of risk associated with the project’s performance
  • Performed a detailed design review of the project’s surface and subsurface facilities, including:
    • Compression
    • Gas or hydrocarbon treatment
    • Natural gas liquids recovery
    • Water handling
    • Pipeline design
    • Cathodic protection
    • Well completions
    • Well spacing
    • Interconnection, and
    • Measurement facilities.
  • Independent assessment of the project’s capital cost and schedule

Project Spotlights:

  • E3 demonstrated the diversity of its midstream gas knowledge. This included technological, geologic and economic assessments of reservoir, salt and aquifer storage; market assessments for regions across the United States; regional pipeline capacity knowledge; and an understanding of regional construction cost and schedule issues.

  • This assignment culminated in our client acquiring a 50% equity interest in a depleted reservoir gas storage project located in the Gulf Coast.  This project is currently under construction and is scheduled to commence operations by early 2007.
