Project: Multi-Asset Gas Storage Acquisition Review
Locations: Alabama, California, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana,
Mississippi, New York, and Texas
Overview:
A major energy company was interested in acquiring gas storage assets
in the United States. E3 Consulting was engaged to
assist in various aspects of this process.
E3 Services Provided:
- Reviewed a variety of reservoir, salt cavern, and bedded salt
storage assets
- In performing a midstream gas review, made a detailed assessment
of the project’s technology, which included a performance
assessment of a reservoir or salt formation
- Assessed the relative level of risk associated with the project’s
performance
- Performed a detailed design review of the project’s surface
and subsurface facilities, including:
- Compression
- Gas or hydrocarbon treatment
- Natural gas liquids recovery
- Water handling
- Pipeline design
- Cathodic protection
- Well completions
- Well spacing
- Interconnection, and
- Measurement facilities.
- Independent assessment of the project’s capital cost and
schedule
Project Spotlights:
- E3 demonstrated the diversity of its midstream
gas knowledge. This included technological, geologic and economic
assessments of reservoir, salt and aquifer storage; market assessments
for regions across the United States; regional pipeline capacity
knowledge; and an understanding of regional construction cost and
schedule issues.
- This assignment culminated in our client acquiring
a 50% equity interest in a depleted reservoir gas storage project
located in the Gulf Coast. This project is currently under
construction and is scheduled to commence operations by early 2007.
