E3 Projects - Battery Storage

Hunt Energy Network BESS Project Review, Texas

E3 provided due diligence services to Hunt Energy Network (HEN) for two energy storage assets under development in the ERCOT market: a 2.2 MW/1-hour and a 9.95 MW/1-hour battery energy storage project. HEN has over 100 MWs of energy storage assets in development in the region, which will be interconnected at the distribution level to provide ERCOT with enhanced grid reliability. E3 served as the Independent Engineer to support the financing of the initial installation and looks forward to providing services to support the portfolio.


Groundbreaking

Stanton Energy Reliability Center, California

E3 served as the Independent Engineer for the Stanton Energy Reliability Center (SERC), a state-of-the-art hybrid energy storage system that will consist of two General Electric (GE) LM6000 based EGT®s located in Stanton, CA. EGT® refers to the Hybrid technology jointly developed by General Electric International, Inc. (GE) and Wellhead Power Solutions. The EGT® combines a turbine with an integrated battery storage system operated by a proprietary software system. SERC provides 98 MW (nominal) of hybrid energy storage capacity. E3 provided construction monitoring on the project.


GlassPoint Solar Enhanced Oil Recovery, California

E3 was engaged by a confidential client to evaluate GlassPoint’s solar technology, which is specifically designed to produce steam for injection into oilfields for enhanced recovery of heavier crude oils. The technology has been implemented for Oman Oil Company in Oman at one of their developments, and they are planning the next phase of implementation. E3 was asked to evaluate this investment opportunity, review the technology, and examine project financing opportunities for future projects. E3 visited the Oman site to verify the operation and to understand how well the technology works on a commercial scale. The technology is undergoing some enhancements, and E3 evaluated the pilot facilities and development laboratories in San Jose and Bakersfield, California. E3 also reviewed the process and mechanical designs for both the original technology and the new version. E3 reviewed capital cost estimates for the old and new versions of the technology. In addition, several other early-stage projects were reviewed in detail, including process design, steam production estimates, financial Pro-forma inputs, environmental, construction contracts, agreements with major oil companies, and other aspects. The total value of all the projects reviewed was more than $5 billion.
